These animals did not chose the life they’ve been given. They are domesticated farm animals... creations of mankind. They are mankind's responsibility to care for them.

Silver Willow Farm Inc. was established in 1996 in Mansfield, Mulmur Ontario. It is the ONLY Sanctioned Non-specific-species Foster Farm in Ontario.

This means that the Silver Willow Farm in Mulmur and its operator, Laura McArthur have gone through many inspections, met all standards and criteria required and is an “Approved” Foster, Rehabilitation and Rescue Facility for ANY type of farm animal.

ABOUT SILVER WILLOW RESCUE FARM

Silver Willow Rescue Farm is a place for the old, the weak, the abandoned and the abused. Situated on 100 acres, it is a place of refuge for animals and humans alike. Here, the health and spirit of the neglected and unwanted is mended. Through the process of providing care, humans within this farm experience renewal and soothing of the soul. We love and care for horses, cows, goats, sheep, pigs, ponies, donkeys, chickens, ducks, turkeys, bunnies, and dogs. Each with its own distinct personality.

Bull Bull is 5 years old and has lived at Silver Willow all his life with his mother, Beans. Please take caution around Bull when petting and taking care of him; as his name suggests, he can be headstrong and likes to get his own way! Bull and Beans share a wonderful relationship and love each other very much.	Lucy and Ricky Lucy and Ricky are mother and son. Lucy is about 42 years old and Ricky is 29 years old. They came to Silver Willow Farm Rescue in 2012. After spending their lives together, the two have forged a tight bond. The OSPCA and Laura rescued them from a cruel owner of a racehorse farm. A lack of care has had a detrimental effect on their hooves; when found, their hooves had grown up into their legs. At Silver Willow Farm Rescue both Lucy and Ricky receive the care and assistance they deserve.	Beans Beans is 20 years old and has been at Silver Willow all her life. She is Laura’s award-winning horse. Beans is not a rescue; in fact, Laura will tell you that Beans rescued her. Unfortunately, Beans has a condition known as founder (a tearing of the lamina inside the hoof which causes the coffin bone to rotate). It can be life threatening to horses that have it, but luckily Beans has a date with a farrier every six weeks to ensure she stays happy and healthy. She has a handsome son named Bull.	Barnie Barnie was found by Laura laying out in a field with a severely injured spine, unable to stand, and dying in the heat of the sun. The owners surrendered him to Laura as they were only waiting for his passing to call the dead stock truck. With the help of Gary Halbert DVM they were able to get him to safety and give him the year he needed to heal. Barnie was since risen to stardom. He has been on films such as Alias Grace, and an equine star of CBCs Anne with an E.
Buckeye Buckeye came from an unplanned litter that needed homes. Who could resist that handsome face? Certainly not Laura, who caved as soon as she saw him. He’s a sweet fella who loves to take any willing volunteer for a walk around the farm, hold on tight, lol. You definitely know he’s around as he tends be a tad vocal.	Hottie Hottie is 9 years old and is the daughter of Maple. She comes by her name for her fiery personality and HOT temper. She is a handful at the best of times! She is a permanent resident at Silver Willow Farm Rescue. Hottie loves apples, apple pie and carrots!	Norman Handsome Norman was born in 2016. He’s half Red Angus and half Jersey. Luckily, he got into the hands of a kind woman, who agreed to have him live the rest of his life at Silver Willow Rescue. Norman is a true gentle giant, who has found himself true love with Ruth Anne. They are a good looking couple who are always together. Norman’s pie crazy, a Cookie Monster and loves people.	Ruth-Anne Ruth Anne came to Silver Willow Farm Rescue in December of 2018. She was only two months old and sick with pneumonia and malnutrition. Treated horribly, she was left in a garage without light, food or water. When she arrived she could barely stand and it was uncertain that she would survive. Never one to give up on any animal in need, Laura nursed her back to health. Ruth Anne is a sweet, slightly shy girl who has bonded with Norman. They are one cute couple, who love pies, pies and more pies.
Rosie Rosie is a Holsten, which is a breed of cow used for milk. She is 13 years old and has had 16 babies cruelly taken from her at birth. On her own, she has produced over 76,000kg of milk. After Rosie’s milk production dropped and she couldn’t have babies, she was destined for slaughter. The wonderful supporters of Silver Willow Farm Animal Rescue raised the $2,500, required for Laura to purchase her, by the pound. (The going rate for a cow like Rosie and her compensation for a job well done.	Oakie Oakie is a Paint gelding born in 2009. It’s suspected that he was bred by Mennonites and had some harsh training. He’s afraid of almost everything and can be dangerous to ride when he reacts. This has given him a reputation of being a troubled horse and difficult to handle. Not all horses want to be ridden, some just want to live their best lives without a human on their backs. He was surrendered to us by a kind woman who recognized his vulnerability. Oakie is a kind soul.	Jewel Jewel is a purebred Clydesdale born in 2004. She spent most of her life as a brood mare, producing superior foals. She was well taken care of, however due to many reasons she can no longer give birth and was released to our sanctuary in October 2020 to spend the rest of her natural life. She weighs approximately 1800 lbs and is 17.5 hands high As you can see, she is a magnificent beauty with soft, curious brown eyes and just look at those kissable lips. She is a lovely, kind mare.	Maggie Maggie is approximately 6 years old. She was rescued along with a group of female goats from Brampton that were being gravely mistreated. After a few weeks of rehab, the other female goats were adopted into kinder homes. Maggie however had suffered more than the others and needed special attention. Our dedicated volunteer, Nikki worked with Maggie gaining her trust and showering her with kindness she had never been shown before. Maggie has since thrived and is now one sassy gal.
Midnight Midnight, a feisty pony, was the beloved pony to two local children. The children grew up but Midnight did not. She was donated to Silver Willow Rescue to be Maple’s “MiniMe” and keep her company.
